How do you go about cleaning motorcycle tanks?

If you are refering to the inside of tank then drain tank completely and allow to ventelate for a day or so. Use compressed air to throughly dry and get all vapors out of the tank. Gas fumes are extremely explosive. When satisfied it's vapor free insert a piece of chain in tank and shake. Get all foreign matter out.

a rag with some soap and water simply wash the tank well, being sure to get under the edges where dirt will accumulate, dry and wax as neccesary.

One good way is t Kreeme the tank. This is a product that thoroughly coats the inside of the tank treating and permenantly encapsulating any contaminants inside of the tank.

The best way is to use a Kreem kit. It comes with the initial acid to clean out the tank and then a kreeming agent to line the tank and prevent rust until used again.
