Usually if you wash it right away, it's a good chance it will go away. You probably had it for a while, so now it more difficult. You should use special detergents for this kind of thing, or use a solution of vinegar or peroxide which would surely help.

For many years our family has always used an old home remedy to get rid of skunk smell. The remedy is to wash the person, animal or object in tomato juice.

I have soaked clothing in vinegar or baking soda (1/2 cu) to a gal of water on some clothes and it works well. Let it soak, however, for serveral hours. Vinegar and/or baking soda works great on any odor and also stains you may have in your home. Then wash normally.
