When all of them leave on their nightly raid, board up whatever opening they are able to enter before they come back. Observe at dusk if you don't know where.

If its just one bat then open all your windows and it will fly out. If you have several bats you need to find where they are getting it and plug up the hole really good in late evening when they start moving to go hunting. This should solve the problem.

I helps to call an exterminater. Although when we had bats we removed them ourselves. We caught them with gloved hands and released them outside.

It depends on how bad the infestation is. If one bat has just flown in, you can probably catch it and release it outside. However, if there is a large grouping of bats, then you will probably want to call an exterminator, or even if you remove them, they may return.
