Chlamydia infection is most commonly contracted by sexual contact with an infected partner. Condoms are fairly effective at preventing this transfer, but if infection occurs, it can be treated with oral antibiotics after a physician examines you.

Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease from having sexual intercourse or oral sex with an infected person. Symptoms can be mild or nonexistent until the infection spreads internally. In women it may cause infertility as the Fallopian tubes become scarred. Men may experience itching, burning urination, discharge, and testicular swelling.
