To get an Employer Identificatin Number (EIN) you must complete an application through IRS. You can call them and have application mailed to you or complete it online. An EIN is a permanent number. For example: Your company is called ABC and fails 2 years later. You start another company XYZ, notify IRS. Recorded name changes but not EIN.
