How do you get a job being a game tester?

I think that would be a great job.

Game testing positions are available with the game development companies. These jobs are also available through online crowd-sourcing websites and contract software websites; you would sign up for the task, download the game, run it until you receive errors, document the errors and then report what caused the errors to the company.

You have to visit game developer websites and contact them about signing up as a tester. Many publishers or developers of popular games are constantly seeking testers, but due to the large volume of applicants have a limited number of available slots. Purchasing online game tester guides or paying someone for access to a job database is not recommended.

The usual way of getting into it is by already working in the industry in another area or by working with a company beta testing for free and being good.

There are three ways you can search for game tester jobs. First, look at online forums for gaming and see if any jobs posted by recruiters. Second, contact game companies directly. Third, search on Craigslist, where many of these ads are placed (though you may have to sift through some scam postings).

I would research gaming companies in your area and submit a resume to them. If your willing to re-locate then submit your resume to all gaming companies. I would make sure my resume was written to meet game tester qualifications.

Live near a video game company, be dilligent, willing to take lots of notes while doing routine tasks to debug the in-progress games even if you don't like that game.
