The axle is probably squaking at two different points. First culprit is the universal joint where the steering column connects. Check that. If not then you have a bad hinge joint at one of the tires.

If when you turn the steering wheel and it sounds like the axle is squeaking it is usually the power steering fluid/pump. Try checking the power steering fluid or see if the power steering pump. Usually if the squeaking stops when it rains or when you wash the vehicle, that is a sign that it is the power steering,

If it is a rwd gm you first need to jack it up and put it on jack stands. then you remove the differential cover. there is one bolt holding a pin in the spider gear housing. pull it all apart, thenu can pull axels out to grease all your bearings.

Axles themselves should not squeak. If you have a squeak more it's a worn bushing or seal. Do a check of all you components to make sure everything is lubricated.

You can try to fix your axle by replacing the boots. IF that doesn't work then you will have to replace the entire axle.

If you are currently experiencing a squeaking axle then you will need to get the liquid that you can spray on them.
