How do you fix a motor knock in a Ford Explorer?

It could be too much piston clearance, a rod getting ready to let go, a leaky head gasket or a PCV valve. If the car has good power, it's probably a rod. It's hard to say what it is without seeing the motor.

Well if you are talking about a intermittent knock caused by fuel then just use a higher octane fuel. If you mean a knocking rod then you will have to rebuild the engine. Most of the lower end will probably have to be replaced. The rods, bearings, piston, and crank will need checked and probably replaced.

With a hammer. The engines fitted into these vehicles tend to get loose easily, hence the knocking against the engine hub. Just knock it into place.

Fist you need to know where the noise is coming from on the motor. Next you are going to want to run a compression check to make sure the motor isnt bad.
