Question by  sammy08 (49)

How do you figure joist spacing?

Answer by  Atomicrayon (2504)

This is a fairly broad question as there are many different types, and this task is non-inclusive. I would recommend a How To Book like the "For dummies" series. You need to first figure out the size of the spacing you need. Typically for every cubic inch, you want 3 cen. worth of spacing.

Determine the size of the lumer you will be using for the joists. Take into consideration the climate where you will be building your desk.

If you go to a hardware store you can buy a tape measure that will tell you how to do it on the back of the tape measure.
