How do you fight off a put bull?

I was always told that if you would throw a blanket or sheet or something like that over their eyes it would let go. If it can't see it will let go. I also have heard that you should hit it on the nose as hard as you can and it would release its' grip.

A pitbull dog has extremely powerful jaws. Avert the dog's attention from biting with use of powerful mace or a very loud sound.

Gun. Story ends. Otherwise consider yourself nearly screwed ;)...Actually on a serious note, any of the formentioned tips should help. I do not advise you to put yourself in a situation where you may have to fight off a pitbull though.
