I would put a fence up and get a play set. Search online for the best ratings for safety, price, and best rated. Also ask your kids what they want.

First be sure the yard has a soft material for the kids to round around, preferably grass. Remove all hazardous or dangerous materials. Surround the play area with a fence to keep kids in and strangers out. Make the area fun and inviting. Add a swing set, tree house, or some other outdoor activity to the area.
