First of all excuse yourself for being a lesbian. You are not the only one who is a lesbian. You are not responsible for emotions which controls you.

Don't be ashamed of your sexuality. It's not something you can choose like most of the general public seems to assume. Do what you can to be happy. Even if it means getting more friends who are Lesbians or if it means moving to an area that is more accepting to gays. All you can do is to be happy.

When you are a lesbian, then I would put a question, why are you ashamed of being a lesbian? Go and admit openly whosoever asks us about the same. Admission of the truth on your part would do away the shamefulness and you would feel rather easy in that way.

Admitting to feelings of shame is helpful even if the shame doesn't make sense. If this shame is related to sexuality, immediate reinforcement can help deal with these difficult and puzzling feelings. There are 12 step programs that are geared toward homosexuality and also individual counseling after careful acreening for the right professional.
