How do you deal with rude people?

Many people have said "kill them with kindness in the past." Often times you can ignore them and hope they stop. They could just be having a bad day.

Sometimes you have to be polite but firm with rude people. In a few cases you do need to be somewhat rude back but often it's best to get out of the situation and ignore them. Sometimes you can't avoid rudeness altogether but there are some people who really can't be negotiated with.
