How do you create a route map?

If you're just driving, you don't need anything on it. If you are biking, you want rest stops, restaurants, etc., listed on the map.

The destination first. Point of origin is second, followed by landmarks and which highways and interstates to take. If you're doing this on a computer, easiest way is to go to google maps. If you're doing this by hand, then you'll have to make sure to highlight routes in colors.
