Right click on My Computer and select Properties. Click the Advanced tab, the click the "Settings" button in the "Startup and Recovery" box (third from the top). Within the "System Failure" box, check the appropriate checkboxes, then in the "Write debugging information" box choose the right dump file size from the first dropdown box, and a location from the second.

specify the location where the dump file should be written after a system crash. Open your registry and find the key below. You may need to create the key if it does not already exist. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ CrashControl] Value Name: DumpFile Data Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ (Expanded String Value) Value Data: File Location

Right Click "My Computer". Click on Properties. Click on the "Advanced" Tab then Click on "Settings" button under the "Startup and Recovery" section. Under "Write debugging information" section, click on the drop down box and choose "Small memory dump". Dump file will be on %SystemRoot%\Memory.dmp

Open Regedit (start-run-regedit). Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\i8042prt\Parameters Double click on the entry called CrashOnCtrlScroll listed on the right-hand side. Change the value to 1. Reboot, and press control + scroll lock. Your computer will blue screen, this is normal. The dump will be saved in c:\windows\memory.dmp or c:\windows\minidump\ with a filename depending on the date the command was executed.
