How do you copy an 8mm film to DVD?

I want to save my home movies.

Play the 8mm Film in a dark room and record it with a digital camcorder placed on a tripod focussed tightly on the screen. connect the camcorder to a computer and upload the file to a computer, using an appropriate program to burn dvds burn the file to a dvd.

The best solution would be to use a transfer service. If you want to do it yourself, you can find 8mm film "scanners" that you buy which will record the video to your computer, and you can then convert and burn to DVD.

I think there is a DVD burning system that you can now buy in order to save your old 8mm and VHS movies.
