As with the care of all reptiles snakes need careful temperature control. They cannot regulate their own body temperature. Too cold or too hot will kill them quickly. They will eat small mice, frogs, birds etc. They only need to eat once a week.

They are alot like other snakes, they need a warming area in a terrerium, a heat lamp on a rock, they will need a bowl of water and will need to be fed either live or frozen rodents once a week. You need to make sure the food is not too big for the lizard.

California gopher snakes are often mistaken for rattlesnakes and are often killed because of that. They are not snakes that should be kept as pets for they do their best in the wild.

Gopher snakes get large. Sometimes as large as 6 to 8' long, therefore requiring lots of cage space. They require temperatures between 75 and 85 degrees. A clean, untippable water bowl should be provided at all times. They are powerful snakes and can tip water bowls easily.

These snakes are wanted to 10-20 gallon tank for their living. Next we gave a heating pad for their adjustment of temperature. Every 10 days given the food and fresh water for the snake. If the snake will lazy take food we can understand the snake is in ill.
