Secretaries today are usually referred to as "administrative assistants. " Years ago secretaries took dictation, typed letters and quietly ran the office. Today the duties are expanded and require far more skills. Google "administrative assistant skill requirements" and you'll get more details. Job requirements vary, of course, with the position.

The new term for "secretary" is "administrative assistant". You can take a one year secretarial course or earn an associates degree in administrative assisting to prepare for this as a job.
