You must be bonded in some states and this is not a lucrative job. However there is a plus side to this. It looks very good on a resume!

It will vary by state - check out the national notary Internet site for your states guidelines. Generally, you will need to fill out an application, attend a workshop and pay a fee. Whether it is worth the price depends on if you are often paying others for the service.
