First, power down your modem. Then, hook the ether net cable to the back of the modem and into the router. Once the cable is in place, turn the modem, and fallow the instructions that pop up on your computer screen for your router software. Fast and simple.

To connect my modem to the router, simply use a RJ45 UTP cable to link them, and is already fully installed and functional, then proceed to configure the firewall and security of the router. After that configure the computers to the network that created the router, either wired or wireless.

You attach a cable or DSL modem to a home router with an Ethernet cable which looks like a thick phone cable. Usually the router will come with a yellow Ethernet cable. Plug one end into the modem's Ethernet port, and the other into the WAN port of the router.

All you have have to do is connect them together with an Ethernet cord. The modem Ethernet port should connect to the routers internet/network port.
