How do you adjust an accelerator cable?

My accelerator cable is too long and needs to be shorter.

The cable is adjusted at the throttle body at the beginning of the intake manifold. The throttle body has a butterfly valve operated by the accelerator cable. The cable is usually held in place by a rubber washer and is adjustable by a nut holding it in place. Loosen the nut and adjust to your liking.

You'll have to get access to the floor as part of the cable goes through the tunnel. Get John Muirs -"How to keep your Volkswagen alive,or Bentleys "workshop manual". They have a huge amount of info, You'll have to get the Bentley manual as they changed the way they did it slightly every few years.

Using a pair of pliers you can cut the cable in question to the desired length by cutting off to adjacent tips of wire, then by using a sauntering gun you can re-attach them.

Tighten the cable until there is alight slack before opening throttle plate. If cable is too long to adjust it needs to be replaced because it's stretched out.

Well in most cases the should be adjust-ability made in to each end. Typically it is in the form of a threaded rod with a not or something similar. Turn this until it is the correct length.
