You hook them up like any other breaker except you will have an extra wire. You have two hot wires, a ground, and a neutral. Any device designed for 240/220 volts will have the same hookups as all of the wires. Usually hot water heaters, dryers, ovens, ranges, and sometimes AC units operate on 240.

A 240 volt circuit breaker basically is a two pole breaker where you have two screws to put each of the hot wires on. The two hots go the circuit breaker. The neutral and ground go to the ground and neutral bar. Make sure you are using the propper amperage breaker for your wire size. Wrong sizes can cause fire.
