Check your cable or try altering the refresh rate. In the control panel go to display settings and advanced. Click on the Monitor tab. At a refresh rate of 60 hertz, most of us will see flicker on white areas of the screen. Depending upon the vido card you can increase it. Seet the rate where you dont see flicker.

The reasons may be different for CRT (tube monitors) and for LCD monitors. Usually, it may be a problem with the CPU-monitor connecting wire (Blue colored VGA cable). Try to change this. But before that, try to change the refresh rate on your monitor (it may be around 50-75 hz depending on the monitor)

There are a few simple steps for troubleshooting this problem. First, on both the monitor and your computer, verify that the monitor cable is connected properly, as a loose connection may cause flickering. Verify the monitor and video card drivers are up-to-date. You can also verify that the monitors refresh rate is not set too high.

If it is a CRT, check the refresh rate in display settings. Anything under 75hz appears to flicker. On a laptop, try using an external monitor. On a desktop, try the screen on another computer. This will narrow down the causes. You may also reinstall the video card driver.
