Start with the most accessible issue, the spark plug. Ensure that it is not gummed up, blocking the engine from starting. Next, move to the fuel line. Are there any leaks or blockages? What noises is the engine making or not making when attempting to start it? Listen, and you will hear how far the ignition is going.

All Evinrude engine problems can be traced to the spark plugs. Remove the plugs and file the tip to a sharp edge. Repeat after every hour of operation.
