How do I troubleshoot a problem with my Frigidaire dishwasher?

Dishwashers are a bit harder to troubleshoot. They fill with water and it makes it next to impossible to open up in mid cycle to see what's happening. However if your washer shuts down in mid cycle then probably it's not switching modes.

Until last month, I also had a Frigidaire dishwasher and I had similar problems with it. I had an appliance repair guy come by and pull it out, and he said mice chewed through the wiring in the back of the unit. Once he replaced the wires, it was fine.

Check to make sure that the dishwasher spouts are not clogged with food or blocked by a piece of silverware. These will make the appliance shut off to avoid damage. Also check that your settings aren't on a timed cycle or other where there is a pause phase. Check with your manual for more information.

this could be because of overheating, keep the back of the dishwasher away from the stove or other hot areas and hope this has not permanently damaged it.
