How do I treat a cherry tree that has a fungus and is diseased?

Unfortunately this is hard thing to fix, you should contact a local tree surgeon or horticulturist or even garden club in your area to identify what type of fungus you might be dealing with, someone from your general area will know best. Listen to there advice on how to save the tree and good luck.

Living on a farm with many types of fruits trees. My dad treated diseased fruit trees with lime. It is a white dusting powder. Dig a shallow trench around the base of the tree. Put lime in the trench,cover the trench with soil;also,dust the bark of the tree with lime.

Black spot, powdery mildew, cherry leaf spot and brown rot all respond to the application of fungicide. Prune infected fruit, branches and leaves, rake them away and destroy them so they do not reinfect the tree. For brown rot, which causes fruit to rot quickly, fungicide should be applied three weeks prior to the fruit ripening.
