How do I teach percentages?

Use the hint words (what percent x/100, is =, of multiply, what number x), then teach increase and decreased percent, discount, commission with sale people, taxes, and teach the difference between cost, profit and sale prize. By teaching the differences the student is able to do any percentage problem in any test.

Make sure students know that % actually means 1/100 and important quartiles: 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. If they can use 1/100 instead of % they should get answers.
