Gather waste products such as fruit and vegatable peelings, shredded newspapers and plant matter. Place them in an invironment that stays at about 80 degrees Fahrenheit, and that stays relatively humid. Turn the mixture over with a shovel once to twice daily, or as needed.

Really all you need to make a compost pile is a bunch of organic material. Then just pile it up. Some people make special vertical container to put it in but these aren't necessary. Just remember to turn the pile occasionally to aerate it and help composition. Look online to see what material you should and should not compost.

To start a compost pile, all you really need is a corner of your yard where you can pile your lawn clippings. Turn the pile every week or so.
