Bind your quilt with either specially prepared binding which is already cut for you or make your own by cutting fabric into strips on the bias. It needs to be pinned and then tacked carefully around the edges of your quilt before it is sewn permanently into place.

First carefully pin all layers of your quilt together. The layers should include the bottom layer, the filling and the top quilted layer. Then carefully trim so that all layers are even. Pin the trim around the quilt removing the other pins as you go. Sew.

Place the folded edge of the binding on one side of the quilt and sew within the fold. Fold the binding back over the side of the quilt and sew.

With the top of quilt facing you, lay binding on top - matching raw sides, start sewing on a side - not a corner leaving a 4" tail of binding (w/ a 1/4" seam), stop 1/4" from the corner, turn quilt, backstitch off the quilt, lay binding straight back & then fold over, start sewing again, repeat for corners.

Well, there is no better way to guide you than to suggest you go on E how. They have step to step instructions there.

To successfully sew binding on a quilt one must first evaluate what stitching method must be used, I like to use a standard stitch and use Chinese silk bindings.

With needle through the quilt only then binding and quilt. Make an X pattern in 1/4 inch stitches alternating between the quilt and the binding and quilt.
