How do I ripen a cantaloupe?

Make sure to leave the cantaloupe whole as once it is cut, it cannot ripen. You may want to try placing it in a paper bag and leave it for a day or so. It should be kept at room temperature and out of the fridge until you are ready to cut it.

If your cantaloupe is not ripe, just allow it to sit on your counter and it will ripen. The best cantaloupes are picked ripe but you will only find those at a local farmers market.

To ripen quickly, insert melon into a brown bag along with an apple, or banana. They produce ethylene gas which enables ripening.
