Transmission control modules are usually located on one side of the trans. Most of them have a clip, removable with a screwdriver. Remove the sending unit wire carefully. The last step is to unscrew the module. Clean the threads with carb cleaner and screw a new on in. Replace the clip and wire and your done.

When replacing the transmission control module I would suggest looking for the screws that that lie on bottom of unit, make sure not to loose them because replacements don't always have all the hardware.

Dodge Neon's on average go through a few tranny control module's in their lifespan. If you own an older one, you need to learn how to do this or you'll be paying a dealer $500. Find the gearbox and look for the CM "control module" tab. Just replace it.

First unplug the wires. Replacing back is very easy whereas front one is little tougher. Turn out the 7/8 socket from the back. For front one we have to work on a mount, we can use ramps which may cost 20 to 30 dollars depending on the replacement which we want to do.

You will need to be able to get under the hood of your car to replace the control module for your Neon. Once there you can replace the module within 1 hour.
