How do I repair the rope on a Craftsman tiller?

To replace the rope take the recoil cover off tiller. Wind the rope back on the recoil backwards. Replace on tiller and test.

Pull the old rope off the pully, spun back the pully and then feed the new rope into the pully.

There are several screws holding the cover in place. Remove the cover leaving the rope and pully exposed. After pulling the rope off off the pully the pully itself must be spun backwards so the pully has enough tension to feed all of the new rope back into the pully.

If you are wanting to repair the rope on this device you will need to make sure the engine is off.

the whole starter unit comes off the side of the motor. the rope is inside of the unit. check with mechanic to replace the rope.
