How do I remove a U pipe from my kitchen sink?

I need to remove the U pipe from my kitchen sink.

This is a simple removal, done either by hand or pipe wrench if necessary. Simply unscrew the collars or nuts from the top and bottom of the pipe and remove.

Doing your own house or home repair can be an often risky and tricky thing. The first thing you should do is go to where the water is on and shut it off. Then proceed like it's a normal pipe to remove.

The "U" shaped pipe under your sink is called a "P" trap and, unless the fittings are corroded or frozen it should be quite easy to remove.

Open door under sink cabinet. Place a bucket under the pipe. Use a wrench to turn both sets of fasteners on the u-pipe.
