The keyboard shortcut for putting an accent over an e is, Keep the Ctrl key pressed and press ' then press e. You can also insert it by clicking on Insert->Symbol->locate the e with an accent(it is already stored under the symbols tab). Double click on it to insert it in the word document.

If you need an 'e' with an accent over it, do not type the 'e'. Click on "Insert" and then "Symbol". Scroll down the list and you will find an 'e' with an accent over it, Click on the image and what you desire will be inserted into your document.

E with an accent mark is regarded as a "symbol" in Word. Put your cursor at the place where you want the e with an accent. Choose Insert in the menu bar at the top of your window. Choose Symbol. Click on the e with the correct accent. (Note the shortcut key at the bottom for next time. ) Click Insert.
