You will be tested on reading, mathematics, and grammar, and should be able to download study guides for each subject. Many universities offer prep courses, so check your university website.

To prepare for the cpt exam i would definitlly suggest he same for any kind of other exam or even the SATs, study cram and get your brain studying the needed areas of knowledge so that you can get your neurons moving and relax a day or too prior to the test.

Just go through some practice questions and test yourself and see what you know. Study what you don't know after that.

The purpose of the CPT exam is to determine a student's readiness for the challenges of higher education. The CPT will determine the competency level of the student in reading, writing and math. Then, classes can be scheduled accordingly. You don't want to do anything to skew the CPT results.
