How do I plan a boy/girl birthday party?

If the children are old enough to have definite likes and dislikes, I would offer them a choice between three different themes. Such as pirates with a treasure hunt; explorers using clues or maps; or travel with a fantastic, imaginary destination. If they're very young children I would go with a generic balloon or teddy bear picnic theme.

First go to a local party store to get ideas for a theme for the party. Next get a list of people you would like to invite. Finally select a date and send out invitations.

Make sure the games are ones that both boys and girls would enjoy. Do not plan overly aggressive games. You may want to have separate goodie bags for the boys and the girls. If you have teams make sure it is not boys against girls.

Decide if you are only inviting children of the same gender of your child or if the party will have both genders. choose games that are appropriate for the child and their guests (boys may prefer more sports type games, while girls may not).
