The switch is located at the base of the steering column on the inside of the vehicle. It is held in place by two screws. Unplug the electrical connector, remove the two screws holding the switch. Replacement is reverse of removal. Screw switch into place, then plug the electrical connector in and start the vehicle.

Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove both steering column covers and disconnect the ignition switch connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position, remove retaining screws and ignition switch.

Removing an ignition switch from an automobile can be tricky due to the security features built into them. Often It could involve removing the steering wheel and other components. Most car manuals should have more information on this. Be sure to read about everything involved before attempting to do this and also make sure that you have the proper tools.

There's a special ignition removal key that you'll have to get from Ford, or you can have an authorized mechanic do it. The don't want these keys to get in the wrong hands. Once you insert the key, the old ignition slides out of the steering compartment.
