How do I keep fish from jumping out of my pound?

I have a koi pond in my back yard, I am having a hard time getting them to stay in.

First, check your water, both the ph and nitrate levels. If those look good, keep an eye on your pond, dragonflies can sometimes be a problem as they lay their eggs on and bite on the koi. If you notice that it is only your female koi jumping, it may be due to their mating rituals.

The most common cause of this is lack of oxygen. Do you have a waterfall, or air stone? If there is not enough air, the fish jump. That is why if you place a koi in a bucket it will jump. It runs out of air. Another cause is having too many fish in the pond.
