Turn your computer off, open the case, determine if you want the drive to be a "slave" or a "master". Adjust jumper accordingly. Fit h/d into empty slot, attach SATA cable, attach power cord. Turn computer back on, open admin tools, add h/d. You may have ot format it.

First, attach one end of the SATA cable to the new hard drive, and the other end to the SATA port on your motherboard. Then, attach the proper power cable from the power supply to the hard drive. Finally, the drive can be mounted into the case with screws.

Turn off and unhook your computer. Open your case, and find an empty hard drive bay. Slide or screw your harddrive in. Attach the SATA cable to your hard drive and motherboard. Close your case, and hook everything back up. Your new hard drive should be ready to use.

A SATA hard drive is very easy to install. Just open up your computer and plug it in, that is all. You do not need any other preparations.

Serial advanced technology attachment hard disk cannot be connected directly. It requires AHCI. AHCI represents Advanced Host Controller Interface. SATA controllers typically operate in "IDE emulation" mode if AHCI is not enabled.

Open the case, and connect the smaller connector of the SATA cable to the motherboard. If you already have another SATA drive, just follow its cable to the motherboard to see where this one will attach. Then attach the larger part of the connector to the drive. You will also need to attach the 4-pin connector or SATA power cable.
