Join a club, and meet people who have similar interests as you. Be nice, no one is going to want to talk to someone who is mean and rude. Just try to meet as many new people as possible. Volunteer, and you can meet even more people. Just be friendly and approachable.

A really good way to improve your interpersonal interaction is to practice! Try joining a club like Kiwanis or Rotary so that you're around a lot of people and, from there, you can practice over and over again until you feel more comfortable.
