If you are interested in identifying flowering vines in Virginia, you may want to purchase a field guide to wild and native plants in your region. These are books that describe the habitat. You may find a field guide to Virginia, or a field guide that covers the entire Mid-Atlantic region. You can also consult your local nursery.

Snip small sample of each vine you want to identify. Purchase books that will show you information on these plants. Hiking and comparing vines to books will help.

Any flowering wine will have young buds growing and waiting to become flowers, just look for different varieties of vines in Virgina and look for flower buds on them, if they do not have flower buds then they will be considered to be the non flowering vines, look for the buds and you will get to know the flowering varieties.

There is no easy way to accomplish this without being either a trained or skill botanist. There are so many different varieties of this plant type there is no Generic-Way.

Be very careful trying to identify vines by yourself it's kind of like mushrooms if you make a mistake you may get into poison ivy or oak or worse. You can go to your public library and check out a book on all the different vines in your area and then you can use that to identify.

You may have to look it up online. Or go to a plant store and ask questions. Take a picture of it and ask questions.
