Keep the dog in a small area when you are not able to keep a close eye on it in order to prevent accidents in other areas of the house. Take the dog outside regularly or have a box/crate and newspaper available so that the dog can go to the bathroom when it needs to.

There are many methods people use to potty train a dog. Some people use puppy pads by placing a large number of them near the door and reducing the number used until the dog goes outside. I have found rewarding a puppy for going outside and a firm "no" inside will encourage them to go outside.

Crate training is the best way to housebreak any dog of any age. A dog naturally will not soil where he sleeps. You must educate yourself on crate training, though for it to be effective. There are lots of websites and books that clearly explain the process.

You housebreak bulldogs like any other dog. Dogs do not like deficating or urinating indoors, it goes agaisnt their instinct. Train him to go outside by verbally scolding him and dragging him outdoors as he goes. He'll get the idea.
