Remove driveshaft. Use a brass hammer and a socket larger than th u-joint to beat off the old u-joint. Place masking tape around the new u-joint so it wont come apart. Place it where it goes and carefully tap the ends in place. Typically this isn't good to replace alone unless you have done it before.

For some reason suburbans are hard vehicles to replace universal joints on but not impossible. First make sure the wheels are chocked properly so your car doesn't roll away. Take the shaft out and press the joints apart and bewared to not dislodge the needle bearings in caps.

Jack up the vehicle. If your lucky you can simply unbolt the yoke from the rear end the slide it into the transmission far enough to drop it. Otherwise the rear end or trans must be moved forward to drop it out so it can be repaired.

You will need to remove the old one using a puller set. Pull the old joint from its housing by pulling against the frame. Replace the joint the same way.

Pull off The tire. Then take off the brake caliper and the rotor for easy access. You are going to want a pickle fork to get apart the old universal. pull out the old and put in the new.
