Being an extra in a movie is generally not full time job. You will still have to go to auditions, and if chosen you may get a part, the hours available differ according to the job.

Unless you live in places where a lot of filming is done, such as Los Angeles or New York, it would be difficult to be an extra full time. Pay attention to your local papers, though, as casting calls will be announced there. Also, you perhaps could sign up with a modeling agency that could help connect you.

Getting work as an extra, or a temporary worker, will usually involve signing up through an agency that will find work for you. When this happens you could be full time, but only for a few months. If the company has a need for you after, this could be permanent.
