It is probably grinding brakes and not the brake pedal. You need to replace the brake pads. Along with the pads you might need to turn or replace the rotors.

Usually the cause of a grinding brake pedal is the brake pads needing to be replaced. the grinding that you hear is the brake worn down brake pad against the rotor. You can buy the brake pads and change them yourself. But I would recommend bringing it to the car dealership for repair.

Well more than likely there is a problem in the parking system. Have a professional take a look at it.

You probably need new brake pads and rotors on your car. The only time grinding occurs is when you have low brake shoes that are strating to grind into the metal of the brake rotors. Replace with NEW pads and rotors. You should expect to pay $175 to $200 per side with new parts.

If you are having the grinding brake problem then you will need to get under the car first. Then you will need to take off your old and put in your new brake pads.
