If the leak is from the oil pan, or the plug on the bottom of the pan, you can easily replace one or both from home. If oil is leaking from anywhere within the engine it may be from a blown gasket, hose, or serious defect with the engine itself. This will require the attention of a professional.

Locate the leak and repair the problem. You will have to get under it to find out exactly what is leaking. It is probably a bad gasket or something.

The first step is to locate the leak. Clean the engine an look for it. Once located then fix it if possible. Typically it is just an old oil leaking.
