the windsurfing sails are made of a really cheap plastic now days and one of the best ways is to use clear packaging tape on both sides of the tear.

Most of today's windsurfer sails are made from a clear mylar material that is fragile and prone to cracking. Short of having your sailmaker repair the sail, the easiest and cheapest way to repair the sail is to use clear packing tape on both sides of the torn area. On dacron sails the same can be done with ripstop nylon.
