How do I change a circuit breaker's size?

Pull the old breaker out and replace it with a new breaker that will take more current. Be careful doing this procedure because most houses are wired with 20 to 30 amp wiring. Putting a bigger breaker in does not make the wire handle any more current and can actually cause a fire.

In order to change a circuit breakers size you must buy a new breaker and install it. You must also install new wiring and devices that are rated for the new breaker,if you are going to be installing a larger breaker then the one you currently have.

If you want to change a circuit breakers size you will need to swap out the breaker. You may go from 15 amp to 20 amp. You must change the gauge of the wire to work witht the appropriate breaker amperage.
