How can I change an Explorer's shell?

To change the shell on an Explorer you are going to need four people. Under the truck there are several bolts all the way around holding the shell on. Loosen the all complete and have each person lift up and side, then replace in the same manner the new shell.

It is possible to replace the shell on a Ford Explorer but it is VERY expensive and not easy to do. It is like a normal truck that has eight body bolts holding the "shell" to the frame of the vehicle.

You would have to remove the entire interior, drive train, suspension. The vehicle would have to be completely taken apart and put back together using a new body.

Depending what year of the model vehicle most vechicles vary on disassmbling the shell from the chasis. Taking pictures as you work is one good way to disassmble and assmble.
