Caring for a shitzu is a lot like caring for any other breed. They need to be fed daily, have fresh water available, be exercised daily, get medical care when they need it, and get plenty of attention. Shitzus were originally bred to be lap dogs, so they would be good companion dogs for someone who is looking for that.

If the question refers to a small Shih Tzu, proper food, exercise and training are required just like any other breed of dog. A Shih Tzu also needs routine grooming because the coat will grow long and become a tangled mess if not attended to on a weekly, if not daily, basis.
